Storage is rarely much to be excited about, but it’s such a vital part of computers and digital devices, that they would be all but useless without it. We deal with a lot of data here at eTeknix, and the bulk of that comes from our content production for YouTube and social media. We shoot in 4K, 8K and even 12K on some of our cameras, and a lot of that is recorded directly from the cameras onto USB Type-C external drives. Why? So we can simply unplug them, connect them to whatever computer is doing the video editing, and get strait into the final stages of production.

That means we need fast, reliable, fast, portable, and fast storage, did I mention fast? Speed is utterly vital to us, as you need high speed drives to capture high resolution and high frame rate video, but also dealing with file access times and transfers can be tedious on slow drives. Why spend time twiddling your thumbs waiting, when you can simply use a faster drive! The Apacer AS723 2TB Hyperspeed Portable SSD is what we’re using right now, with a lightweight and extremely compact design, it’s very portable and it’s designed to be very durable too. However, With USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 NVMe interface, it can also read and write data at 2000 MB/s.
