ASUS has just revealed their latest B150M Expedition motherboard, and “why the heck are they releasing such a board when we have new chipsets?” I hear you cry. The new EX-B150M-V5 D3 board is designed to meet the demands of the iCafe market. It is designed to be durable to survive round the clock use in gaming and internet machines, although it’s not a TUF as some of their other motherboards, it’s a nice blend of price vs reliability.

It comes with the LGA1151 socket, as well as DDR3 memory support with two slots, capable of holding 16GB of DDR3-1866 RAM. Worried about people popping off the side panel and stealing the RAM? The anti-theft slots come with screw down clips, designed to at least slow down any light-fingered users.

The Micro-ATX board features a 7-phase VVRM, a single PCI-e 3.0 16x slot, and two PCI-e 3.0 1x slots. There are four SATA 6Gbps ports, eight USB 3.0 ports, a Realtek RTL8111GR gigabit ethernet controller, and Crytal Audio 2 using Realtek ALC887 6-channel HD audio CODEC.

Overall the board is nothing crazy, but it promises to come in at a very competitive price. If you’re looking to deploy many systems on a budget and still need to tick the boxes for reliability and performance, it’s a tempting solution.
