Even though it doesn’t boast the famed ROG branding, the new MG24UQ monitor by ASUS can definitely be used for gaming, as it comes with a series of gaming-orientated features such as ASUS GamePlus and ASUS GameVisual. The first feature provides a series of six different display presets that were designed for different game genres while the second feature minimizes LED flicker and blue light in order to ensure a more comfortable gaming experience. Other highlights of this ASUS product include a 23.6-inch 4K Ultra HD IPS panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, as well as a response time of just 4ms.
Then there’s the dynamic mega contrast ratio, the 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, the maximum color depth of 16.7 million and the wide color gamut with 100% sRGB coverage. When it comes to input, the MG24UQ features DisplayPort 1.2 and an HDMI 2.0 port, which should definitely cover the needs of the average gamer. A possible downside could be the 60Hz refresh rate, but given the fact that we’re talking about a 4K monitor, albeit a relatively small one, this isn’t likely to make gaming impossible. No word on pricing just yet, but since it is not a part of the brand’s ROG lineup, this product is likely to be relatively affordable.
