Those of you who own iPhones might have a chance to use them to create incredible virtual reality content in the future, as a group of friends from Spain have recently launched a Kickstarter project for a special iPhone camera adapter. Dubbed Shot, the adapter was designed for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and it allows the user to capture 235-degree videos and 360-degree photos, all thanks to a pair of fisheye lenses. The gadget’s dedicated app takes the photos captured with each camera and glues them together in order to create a high-resolution panorama. Pretty cool stuff, right?
The gadget’s social aspect also deserves a mention because the app encourages users to share their own images and browse through other people’s work. Moreover, each picture created with the Shot adapter will be compatible with Google’s Cardboard VR headset. As for the Kickstarter rewards, they include a lens kit for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, as well las a Cardboard headset for just $55. The project’s goal is to gather $100,619, and if proves to be a success, the public should be able to get its hands on the adapter and the app as early as April 2016. Have a look at the following video if you want to see Shot in action.
