I’m sure that many of you are excited about DirectX 12 and that you can’t wait to test it on your own rigs, which is why you’re probably going to want to check out this particular tech demo created by CryZENx. The demo was created using Unreal Engine 4.9 and represents a mix of CryZENx’s Metroid Prime project and Epic’s Sun Temple Demo. Basically, you’re now able to control Samus Aran and explore the Sun Temple using a first-person or third-person perspective. You can also shoot her gun by left clicking, or enable a series of purple particle effects by pressing 1 on your keyboard. Morphing into a ball is also available by pressing the left Ctrl key.
The tech demo is standalone, and you should definitely give it a try yourself. I tested it on a relatively weak rig and it ran smoothly in both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 versions, although the DirectX 12 variant seemed to run better. The lighting and reflection effects are particularly interesting, especially in first-person mode when the weapon reflects the surrounding environment. Make sure to download CryZENx’s tech demo from here and let us know how it runs on your system.
