Dishonored 2 Director – “Game Will Always Need a Beefy PC for Ultra”

While the general reception to Dishonored 2, Bethesda’s new action stealth sequel, has been largely positive, many gamers have criticised the game’s performance on PC, even on higher-end systems. The game’s Director, Harvey Smith, has been candid in his interactions on Twitter with concerned players over the past few days, admitting that he is “distressed” that some PC users are experiencing problems.
Now, Smith has revealed that, regardless of future patches, the game will likely only run at ultra graphical settings on a “beefy” PC and has willingly taken the blame over the matter. Smith says the problems are “totally on us – no one is more frustrated that some players/configs have problems,” and that the “game will always need a beefy pc for ultra, but there are a number of fixes we’re making.”

Bethesda issued the following statement on the matter:
“Thank you for supporting Dishonored 2.
We have been monitoring the PC forums and social channels and while we’re excited to hear that many of you are enjoying the game, we are disheartened that some of you are experiencing PC performance issues on some systems.
We are actively working to provide an update to address your concerns. The patch and its release notes will be available in the coming days.
With the feedback our support group as received, we are preparing a patch intended to provide improvements to allow for more consistent framerates on affected systems and provide an update to the mouse code for smoother input.
While we prepare the patch, we encourage players to use the recommended settings posted on Bethesda.net and check out the Steam Community Guides for the best experience.”
