Doom is Now Fully Playable Using Fallout 4’s PipBoy

Fallout 4’s passionate community is already creating a host of innovative mods to improve the user-interface. While these alterations are incredibly useful, the ability to play Doom on a Pip Boy is certainly one of the most intriguing creations. Once the mod has been installed, you can enjoy Doom in all its glory through a retro green art style which is quite reminiscent of the original Nintendo Game Boy. In theory, this shouldn’t be taken down for copyright reasons because you can download a version of Doom under the Shareware license.
Honestly, Bethesda should have included this by default as a hidden Easter egg. Although, perhaps the idea never crossed their mind. If you want to give the Doom mod a try, please visit here. Thankfully, the install process is fairly painless and shouldn’t pose a problem:
- Goto C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4
- Open Fallout4.ini
- Scroll to sResourceDataDirsFinal and add “PROGRAMS\, SOUND\” to the end of the line comma included.
- Enjoy.
Doom on a Pip Boy isn’t the definitive version but it’s an excellent mod which deserves some attention. Even more impressive, this is supposedly the creator’s first mod. Although, I’m unsure if that relates to Fallout 4 mods or modding in general. Now it’s time to ditch that calculator or Apple Watch version of Doom, and play it on a Pip Boy!
