EarthBound Has “Sold Out” on Club Nintendo

Nintendo loves understocking its popular goods; whether its Amiibos or Wii U Gamecube adapters, the “Sold Out” sign will be a painfully familiar sight to Nintendo customers. But now, in a move beyond parody, Nintendo has sold out of a digital version – that’s a virtual, downloadable version, not a physical copy – of a game.
Super Nintendo classic EarthBound, one of the finest RPGs ever made, has proven so popular on Club Nintendo, the Japanese game company’s online store, that it is showing as unavailable for purchase.
I don’t even…
Instead of simply issuing more digital codes for the game, Nintendo has ceased sales of the game.
It seems Nintendo really does hate money.
