Noise, Power Consumption and Temperatures
Noise
The graphics card’s 0dB fan mode which prevents the fans from spinning when temperatures are under 60C is brilliant and allows you to enjoy a silent PC providing other components emit low noise. Under load, the MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X is ridiculously quiet and emphasises the impressive nature of MSI’s latest Twin Frozr VI design.
Power Consumption
Despite having upgraded the stock power configuration with an 8-pin connector, the graphics card is efficient and consumes very little power when running games or benchmarks on extreme presets.
Temperatures
Here we can see the GPU’s Twin Frozr VI cooling solution is a staggering feat of engineering and can compete with rival products sporting a triple fan design. Throughout the testing, the MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X hit a maximum thermal value of 65C and 63C average. This is astonishing when you consider these temperatures are maintained while being whisper quiet.
