Battlefield 3 Banned in Iran

There’s been a lot of dispute regarding exactly how legal Battlefield 3 is in Iran, it’s already illegal to sell it, but it’s been announced that the ‘Combatant Clergy Association’ have banned the game from the country all together, including having a pirated copy.

According to a Iranian news agency, over 5,000 Iranian teenagers have signed a petition to stop Battlefield 3 from being sold in shops, with the reason that it does nothing but harm the image of Iran “at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran.”

This is the first time an Official complete ban on a game has been reported in Iran. When asked for comment on the ban, EA response was surprisingly positive, saying it would help the company by preventing piracy.

In that Battlefield 3 is not available for purchase in Iran, we can only hope the ban will help prevent pirated copies reaching consumers there.
