Intel plans to Bulldoze Bulldozer launch
We have already seemed some leaked reports that the 2600K destroys the FX-8150 in most real world application tests and benchmarks and if that wasn’t bad enough Intel has another card up its sleeve. The i7 2700K is due for release at the same time, the specifications of it look like this:
i7 2700K
- 3.5GHz stock speed;
- 3.9GHz turbo mode;
- Quad Core;
- 8 threads, Hyper threading enabled;
- TDP of 95W (lower than AMDs 125-130W for the Bulldozer’s)
- HD 3000+ Graphics (Bulldozer has none integrated);
- £250 est, Bulldozer’s most expensive option to be £180 est.
Since the 2700K’s are based off cherry picked Sandy Bridge i7 processors you can expect to see the 2700K overclock slightly better than the 2600K on air (maybe 0.1-0.3GHz more). Even though this processor may seem expensive, it will bring down the price of other K series processors and bring the 2600K into closer price competition with the FX8150 and make the 2500K an even better buy. This also raises question about another future i7 release…maybe a 2800K next? And if all that wasn’t bad enough for AMD, then it gets worse as Sandy Bridge-E X79 platforms are due out in a few months which could bury the Bulldozer before it even gets a chance to take hold. But then again, If AMD cannot win on performance (which it clearly can’t from the latest figures) then it will have to win on Value for money.
😀 I love this plan of theirs!
