‘Obduction’ The Spiritual Successor To ‘Myst’ Hits Kickstarter

Myst was one seriously strange game when it launched, it was highly expected to be too much for some and no one expected it to be as popular as it became. Yet for years it was the top selling PC gaming and sold over 6 million copies, something that wasn’t beaten until the release of The Sims in 2002.
With 20 years now past since the original release, Rand Miller, one of the games original creators, as well as his company Cyan, are working on a “spiritual successor” to Myst and they have gone to Kickstarter to raise $1.1 million to make it a reality.
Obduction is a classic first-person adventure that will certainly please fans of the original Myst. Your in a strange world, no information, no back story, you just get on with it and try and unpick the world around you.
The game will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and they hope to have the game out by the end of 2015.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of Myst, one of the best-selling computer games in history. The Myst name is widely recognized as uniquely defining a new kind of gaming – amazingly immersive worlds where the point is to understandyour environment rather than test your reflexes. The Obduction project will take what Cyan knows about creating deeply immersive worlds and apply it to an entirely new game with fantastic scenery, incredible architecture, compelling story, and exceptional challenges.”
Barely one day has gone by and the game has already reached $250,000 of its goal, so why not head on over to Kickstarter and show them your support, because this is one gaming experience you will no want to miss out on.
