Radeon HD 6800 performance figures leaked

The first performance figures have been leaked for the up and coming Radeon HD 6800. Albeit rumours, it’s the only thing that we have to go by, so darn it, we will trust what they say, until proven otherwise.
The results of the first tests of the Radeon HD 6800 come from XFastest’s website and show the performance of the HD 6850 and HD 6870 in the latest Futuremark applications; 3dMark 06 and 3DMark Vantage.
In the results shown below, you can see the 6800 series cards pitted against Nvidia based cards including the GTX 480, 460 and GTS 450 as well as similar specced AMD cards including the HD 5870, 5850, 5830, 5770 and even the more basic 5750.
We can clearly see from the results that the 6870 actually scores lower that the previous generation 5870 card. When comparing with Nvidia’s offerings, only the GTX 480 comes out on top, whilst the GTX 460 whimpers below the rumoured 6870.
The 6800 series cards, codenamed Barts clearly show some impressive performance and if the results turn out to be more than just a rumour, only price will determine where these cards lay in the consumer market.
