Qualcomm’s Deca Core Snapdragon 818 Chip Leaks

Recently MediaTek launched a premium Deca-Core SoC for premium lineup. It is made to compete Samsung’s Exynos and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon offerings. Helio X20 is the first 10 Core SoC with four ARM 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 cores for basic processing, four 2GHz ARM Cortex-A57 cores for middle to heavy usage cases, and two 2.5GHz ARM Cortex A72 for maximum performance and ARM Mali T880MP4 700mHz GPU.
Well, looks like Qualcomm does not want to lag behind the competition as details of its first deca-core processor have been leaked. The new SoC is named Snapdragon 818 which will work on its own Big.Medium.LITTLE Architecture. In spite of Snapdragon 820 being in works, they have decided to go for SoC with a deca core design for time being as Snapdragon 820 with its custom Kryo cores will not be ready for mass production anytime soon.
Snapdragon 818 is sporting 4 sets of Cortex A53 @ 1.2 Ghz, 2 sets of Cortex A53 @ 1.6 Ghz and 4 sets of Cortex A72 @ 2.0 Ghz which is low powered than MediaTek’s MT6797 SoC. There is no official statement from the chip maker yet. We currently do not have any more information on release date and specification, but we will keep you up to date as soon as we do.
