SteelSeries WoW: Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse Review
A Closer LookAfter removing all the packaging we can see the mouse and the cable, which is a braided cable to increase durability and is of a sensible length.
Taking a closer look at the lower part of the mouse we can see the ‘metal looking surface’ with rivet or dimple additions.
Moving closer to the front, we can see the mass of buttons. There are three surrounding the scroll wheel as well as two more on either corner of the front.
From the left-hand side of the mouse we can see even more buttons. There are a further 5 buttons, the top two in windows are for forward and backward during browsing while the bottom 3 have no initial assignment.
From the right hand side of the mouse we can see one more button and a similar design to the left hand side, although the button is positioned differently. This button, by default is set-up to ‘Toggle Battle Map’ and as such has no Windows function.
A close-up of the scroll wheel reveals a fairly chunky rubberised wheel with large notches although it rotates fluidly with little effort.
The bottom of the mouse is fairly standard, although it is quite obvious how wide the mouse is and you can see the Steelseries logo a good 3 times. The feet are fairly thin and allow the mouse to slide very easily.
I have owned this mouse for about 6 weeks now and I really do think its a great mouse. Its my first gaming mouse so I cant compare it to others. I did however try them out in the shop before I purchased this one. I had my heart set on the rat 7 but after trying them out for comfort etc this come out on top. I have rather big hands so this one is really comfy for me to use. The rat 7 which I was really dissapointed I didnt get was not good for my big hands. when the back was extended out I couldnt use it without the front lifting up 🙁
