ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP! Series Revealed

With almost everyone having their GTX 1080 cards shown off, we’re finally getting a look at what Zotac will be offering. As part of their AMP! series of GPUs, Zotac has the basic AMP! offering as well as the aptly named AMP! Extreme meant to push the limits. Both cards feature the Nvidia Pascal GP104-400 die and come with IceStorm Fans with Carbon ExoArmor and PowerBoost.

The basic AMP! features the standard 2 fan design with Spectra LED strips on the shroud. It’s not quite a 2 slot design but its pretty close to it. The thing that pops out to me is the heatsink fin array. Zotac has sealed the edge of the fin array, making it flush with the cooler shroud. This provides not only a clean look but likely better cooling performance as the fans force air through all of the fin array before it is able to escape.

As the more extreme offering, the AMP! Extreme features a much beefier cooler with 3 fans. The fans also feature an extra inner scoop per blade and the whole card takes up nearly 3 slots due to the tall blades and heat sink. Interestingly, the sides of the fin array aren’t sealed off. I suppose with larger fans and heatsink, that wasn’t necessary. Spectra also makes an appearance with even more LED elements.

Both cards also feature a custom backplate and FREEZE tech that stops the fans when idle. Thankfully, both cards also feature 2 x 8pin PCIe power connectors to unlock the full overclocking potential of the GTX 1080. I can’t wait to see the cards at Computex!
