13 Years Later – the X Files Is Set to Return!

The X Files was a TV sensation when it hit out screen many years ago, but it has now been a staggering 13 years since the show came to an end, leaving TV viewers void of the intense and awkward sexual tension between Mulder and Scully, not to mention robbing us of what was essentially Scooby Doo for grown-ups; minus the talking dog side-kick.

FOX have taken an order for a new six-episode series of the show and to make things even better, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back on board to reprise their original roles, while creator/executive producer Chris Carter will be taking charge once again.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

Production of the show is to begin Summer 2015, so it may be a while until we see it on our screen. With nine seasons already to its name, as well as 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, this is certainly one return I’ll be looking forward to.
