Microsoft has stated that it is looking for Windows 8.1 to be a springboard for a whole new range of Windows mobile devices and one of the latest proposals, according to the Verge, is to make some high resolution display tablets. Currently Microsoft’s Surface tablets, and other Windows 8 based tablets, seem to stop at 1920 by 1080. This leaves Apple’s Retina display devices and Google’s Nexus 10, among a handful of others, unchallenged in the high resolution display market.
Microsoft is looking to combat this by releasing a new wave of high resolution display tablets with screens up to 2560 by 1440. As far as details go that is literally all we know, of course they will be running Windows 8.1 based operating systems but we do not know whether Microsoft will be making these or if their partners will be making these, or both. Microsoft has also been rumoured to be producing an 8 inch Surface tablet and in general Microsoft is really looking to kick start their tablet sales with the launch of Windows 8.1.
For those of you who didn’t get a chance to read it you may remember there were rumours about Microsoft having a one year plan to take over the tablet market, this is surely part of such plan if it does exist. Microsoft also released a wave of adverts to smear the name of the iPad and make Windows-based tablets appear better.
