1MORE ComfoBuds Pro True Wireless Headphones Review

Finding the right headphones can be tricky, as there are so many to choose from! For me, it's getting easier and easier, as I've had nothing but good times with 1MORE products in recent years, and now that their new ComfoBuds Pro are on my desk for review, I'm expecting great things from them once again. Let's hope they can live up to their own strong reputation. Now, I'm not expecting these to topple their flagship models, but at 1/3rd of the price, they're certainly going to have broader appeal, especially as we approach Christmas. 1MORE ComfoBuds Pro True Wireless Headphones Despite their fairly affordable price tag, it seems 1MORE has not skimped out on any features here. You get their latest high-end 13.4mm titanium composite drivers, which is something we've come to expect from 1MORE. Their proprietary QuietMax active noise cancellation technology, four built-in ANC modes to choose from, five if you count turning them off, and six built-in microphones too! They're even IPX4 rated, so going for a sweaty run in the rain should be fine. It seems then, these could be a pretty potent set of headphones even at this price range. Packaging & Accessories The box is nice and compact, with a clear photo of the headphones on the front, and the main specifications are written on the sides and rear. In the box, you'll find all the usual documentation and even a sticker. There's a USB C charging cable, protective bag, and some spare silicone tips to adjust the fit of the earbuds. A Closer Look & Performance These headphones actually come with one of the largest docks I've seen. It's still quite slender and the smooth edges make it comfortable to hold or store in your pocket. However, it's longer to deal with the length of the earbuds, but also provides room for a larger battery too (450 mAh). It's got a magnetic lid on it, and the colour looks amazing too. It comes in black or white editions, but honestly, I can't imagine they look as nice as the blue one. Tucked into the rear, you'll find the USB C charging port. The cable is included, but honestly, you should be able to use any Type C cable you've got lying around. Flip open the lid, and you'll find those lovely headphones in a matching blue. There are some protective covers on them when they're new, so remember to remove those, obviously. The dock its self is quite nice. While perhaps a little longer than most, it's not encumbering. It uses magnetic mounts too, so the headphones snap into their sockets easily. As for the headphones themselves, they're actually pretty gorgeous and that blue looks even better on these than the dock! They looked a little large, but their size is similar to AirPods, but at just 5.2 grams each, they're a touch lighter than the AirPods 5.4g. The headphones have 50 mAh batteries, which means they're good for up to 6 hours of usage on a single charge, which is actually super impressive, many wireless headphones in this price range are 2-3 hours at best. You'll get another 20 hours total use before you need to recharge the dock too. While the headphones can fully charge from flat in around an hour, it's their fast charging that makes them the most versatile. A mere 15 minutes in the charging dock will give you an additional two hours of usage, making them awesome for long journeys. Another welcome feature is the autoplay/pause feature. There are some infrared sensors that will pause your music when you take a headphone out of your ear and resume when you put it back. Handy if you're enjoying your music and your friend keeps asking you endless questions. This feature can be disabled in the app though. There are six microphones built-in, three on each earbud. They're designed to provide some surprisingly advanced ANC, as well as provide input for making phone calls. On the former, you have two modes built-in, one is strong ANC, and it worked exceptionally well, while the other is a listen-through mode so you can hear people talking or traffic, while still enjoying louder music, and that works great too! Some variations on these are available via the free app. The sound is big, really big! Those powerful drivers really pack a wallop with a lot of bass, detailed mids and clear highs. They're quite loud when you need them to be, but overall, they just have a great sound that really puts the wow into whatever music you're playing. However, there's a lot of customisation too, with a powerful range of EQ settings to choose from. Acoustic, Bass Booster, Bass Reducer, Classical, Deep, Electronic, Hip-Hop, Loud, Lounge, Podcast, Pop, Vocal Booster, etc, etc. However, you need the app to apply them, but the settings stick to the headphones, so you won't need the app next time unless you need to make a change. The fit and finish are great, they're light, feel very comfortable, and lock into your ear nicely. There are three sizes of silicone heads in the box, so tinker with them until you find the one that suits you best. For me, it turned out to be the pre-installed ones, so I basically wasted five minutes of my life. How Much Does it Cost? The 1MORE ComfoBuds Pro True Wireless are available from the 1MORE website with an MSRP of $99.99. However, they're currently 40% off, making them just $59.49 + TAX in the US. However, in the UK their MSRP is £89.99, but again a sale has taken those down to £64.99 and there are some further discount codes available (currently 10%) so really, now is a freaking great time to snap up a pair. This price is really hard to compete with for this level of features and performance. Overview 1MORE continue to push the limits with their products. Sure, when they started out, it was all about audiophile flagships, but their high-end features have been trickling down the price range and into more affordable models ever since. While these aren't their most expensive, or even their most affordable headphones, I think they may be their most competitive and compelling set to date. Apple, Beats, Bose and others all have popular products, albeit I think they mostly suck, are overpriced, and in some cases, both. The Apple ones sound pretty great, but again they're basically tied to the Apple ecosystem and the prices that come with it. What 1MORE have here is a set of headphones you can use on any Bluetooth device, and that's obviously going to appeal to the Android crowd for obvious reasons. What really takes 1MORE's ComfoBuds Pro to the next level are the features. Touch controls on both earbuds, allowing you to play/pause, skip songs, use your smart assistant, and even cycle through the ANC modes. Plus, the infrared sensors for auto play/pause are really useful, as I no longer miss bits of my audiobook while crossing the road (I take my headphones out). Plus, with those powerful drivers, music, games, movies, or whatever sound absolutely fantastic. the sound is big, has lots of detail and a level of depth I'd attribute to a larger over-ear driver design. Sure, 1MORE has even better sounding headphones, but these are a fraction of the price of their flagship models, but they're still giving you 95% of the thrills. With big performance, great features, long battery life, and competitive prices, these are some of the hottest headphones on the market right now!
