1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones Review

1MORE hit the market in a big way just a couple of years ago. They set out to make some of the finest headphones on the market, and take down many of the headphone giants when it comes to price and performance. If you've read any of our previous 1MORE reviews, you'll know they've succeeded too. They continue to release phenomenal sounding headphones, with class-leading build quality and at prices that make them very competitive. I'm hoping we see the same with the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones, or the EHD9001TA if you want to get technical. At just £189.99 they sound like a great deal, especially given their specifications. 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones Firstly, they're true wireless, which means that it's a set of independent earbuds with no cables, much like the modern Apple Air Pods. They come with dual ANC microphones for noise cancellation, feature hi-res audio support from their built-in DSP and Qualcomm chip. You get dual drivers per ear, with a dynamic driver + balanced armature. Then you have aptX/AAC, Qi charging, Infrared Sensor for auto-pause, and 22 hours playtime. Of course, they have a little battery dock too, which can offer two hours use with just 15 minutes charging. Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation Choose between 2 levels of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), with Level 1 filtering out unwanted noise up to 35 dB*, and level 2 suppressing ambient noise up to 20 dB. Level 3, Pass-Through, lets in ambient noise so you can stay aware of your surroundings. "One feedforward (outside) and feedback (inside) ANC microphone catchenvironmental and in-ear noises respectively which allows noise to be suppressed at a broader range of frequencies. A dedicated DSP (Digital Signal Processor) analyzes and adjusts the sound waves real-time to provide a well-balanced and natural sound so you can get immersed in your favorite music." - 1MORE Packaging The packaging is similar to what we've seen in previous 1MORE products. A stylish two-tone box with a cool image of the product on the front. We can see a quick breakdown of the features too. Around the back, it's just a wall of technical stuff in multiple languages. There's a small metal tab on the side with a magnetic latch. This opens out to show off the headphone in their box. Plus, you get that funky set of sketches showing off various features of the product. The headphones and dock are well protected and set into thick foam. In the box, you'll find a big stack of documentation, as well as a neat little sticker. There are multiple sets of earbuds so you have spares and different sizes to suit your needs. Plus, you get this durable little carry bag to keep it safe when stored in your bag. In the bag, I even found a little USB-C cable to keep the dock charged. A Closer Look & Performance The 1MORE dock is quite large on this model, certainly much larger than that of the rival Apple products. However, that's not a fault, it's a feature. The larger design simply translates to a much larger battery. The headphones will run for 5 hours with ANC on, 6 hours with ANC off. That'll increase to 18 hours and 22 hours respectively with charges from this dock. It features a 410mAh battery with fast charging support. That'll give you two hours of use with just 15 minutes of charge time and 65 hours of standby time. What's really cool is that you can charge it with a USB-C cable, so the whole thing recharges really quickly overall. Or you can drop the whole thing on a Qi charger! Little details add up too, such as the flat rubber grip base so it doesn't scratch up your desk. Aluminium outer construction. Magnetic latch. And magnetic earphone mounts. The Headphones The headphones are really cool looking, with a touch of carbon fibre under a gloss finish top. They're really nicely finished, albeit, they're a set of premium 1MORE headphones, so I wouldn't have expected anything less. As you can see, the back of them is a little swollen, which allows them extra room for the batteries, wireless gear, and their powerful dual-driver design. 1MORE is well known for class-leading sound quality and I'm happy to report that they haven't forgotten that this time. On the back of each earbud, you'll find a small 1MORE logo as well as a small indicator LED which can flash red or blue to let you know about power, pairing, etc. There's a small red patch too, which is actually the feedforward ANC microphone. There's also a feedback ANC microphone here to detect in-ear noises. There are a few options for ANC too and they're all pretty awesome. Level 1 is for flying, sitting on the train, that kind of thing, it'll take out those loud drones and noises. Level 2 is good for blocking background noise in a cafe, general traffic noise, etc. Pass-through is really cool though, as it lets you hear ambient noise by piping it back through the drivers. This is good for when you're riding a bike and want to hear your music but still need to be somewhat aware of your surroundings. The fit of the earbuds is fantastic, and there's a small hoop that helps lock them into your ears even better. They're perfect angled to anchor their weight down, so they don't feel like they're falling away from your ears. Plus, they fit so well they're passive noise isolation is pretty incredible, so I'm glad they did add that pass-through ANC too. It's easily changed though, just tap the back of the earbud to change the ANC level and find what suits the situation best. On the side, you'll find two small contacts, which allow the earbud to charge when dropped into their dock. There's also a small button here, which can be used for basic control, power, pairing, etc. There's also a small infrared sensor build into them. This allows them to detect when they're been taken out of your ears, and auto-pause the music. It's a simple detail, but I like it. However, it's the sound quality that really sets these apart. They use a dual-driver design, with a 10mm titanium composite diaphragm dealing with the low-end and mids. 10mm is pretty massive for in-ear headphones, so you really do get a lot of punch from them. Then they have the patented 1MORE Balanced Armature dealing with the high-end stuff. They've used a similar design in a few models now, and it never disappoints. They've been tuned to give a flat and accurate response and it really shows. However, they can be EQ'd through your phone or media device to suit too. When you're done, just drop them into the dock and let them recharge. Of course, you can even charge a single earbud and keep using one if you like. Either side can be the primary or secondary to suit your needs. Unlike some models from rivals, either headphone can be used to make phone calls too. How Much Does it Cost? Right now the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones with ANC, also known as "EHD9001TA" are available for £171 on Amazon. That puts them around the same price as the Jabra Elite 75t, and the Audio-Technica Sport7TW. I think their closest real competitor would be the BeoPlay E8, which are £200, but I think all of those brands are a little more focused on sport, style, fashion, etc whereas 1MORE have better hardware overall. Overview 1MORE are absolutely killing it with their latest headphones. They continue to blow me away with exceptional products and quality at competitive prices. Sure, £171 is not exactly chump change, but these are not exactly run of the mill headphones either. Build Quality Everything is premium from top to bottom. The dual-driver design, dual microphones (per ear) for ANC, infrared sensors, carbon fibre, aluminium, titanium, magnetic locks, USB C. It's all the right things you want to see when you're shopping for a premium set of headphones. Plus, it's all been expertly made, they look and feel like a premium quality product because they simply are. Performance This is where 1MORE excels the most. While many of the style brands focus on looking cool and trendy, it always feels like performance is the second priority. 1MORE focus on sound quality above all else. High-quality drivers, tuned for an accurate response with high-res audio support. Music, movies, gaming, it all sounds superb. Of course, flawless wireless performance, great battery life, easy and fast charging, and much more all complete the set too. Should I Buy Them? It's a tough call, as they're clearly quite expensive. I've been a big fan of the 1More Stylish True wireless that I reviewed a year ago that are half the price of these! However, after a couple of days with the premium model, I don't want to go back. Better sound quality, improved aesthetics, improved build quality and a lot more features. Plus the ANC is some of the best I've tested yet!
