Pricing
Finding an accurate price for any OEM monitor is extraordinarily difficult because the product was sent directly from the factory. As a result, I cannot pinpoint an exact price but if this changes, the review will be updated accordingly. It’s important to remember that OEM monitors are typically offered at lower prices than retail models and can be a good investment if you can accept the rudimentary package. As always, please be careful if you’re importing the display from the factory instead of dealing with a retailer because you could be strung by import charges.
Summary
Aesthetically-speaking, the monitor opts for a glossy finish and neutral styling without any branding from the factory. This understated appearance works well if you’re not overly keen on the manufacturer’s name being branded on the monitor in a distracting manner. Sadly, the glossy coating is a fingerprint magnet and collects dust at every possible opportunity. Personally, I’d prefer to see the matte finish deployed on the rear section throughout the monitor’s construction. For example, the textured finish looks superb and enthuses a more premium feel than the glossy finish. Unfortunately, the monitor’s stand is designed to keep costs to a minimum and doesn’t allow for any adjustments. Not only that, the base has the propensity to mark easily and wobbles when you apply pressure near the display.
On a more positive note, the panel’s out-out-the-box performance is superb and features 99% sRGB and 75% AdobeRGB coverage. By default, the monitor also manages to achieve good colour accuracy for a TN panel. Furthermore, the contrast ratio was another highlight but the panel really struggled with brightness uniformity. Calibrating the display greatly enhanced the colour accuracy and contrast while reaching 100% sRGB coverage. Annoyingly, the calibration had some negative effects and caused the brightness uniformity to become even more sporadic. Overall, the panel is impressive and scores highly on many fronts.
The 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync technology combine to create a magical user experience in both desktop and gaming scenarios. For example, the complete lack of stutter and screen tearing when playing demanding games is nothing short of astonishing. It allows for such a fluid and reliable frame-rate which makes you feel completely engrossed during intense segments. On another note, the fast response time means there’s no input lag and the display doesn’t exhibit any ghosting. When viewing 1080P footage, the monitor features good colour reproduction and looks sharp due to the high pixels per inch rate.
Pros
Cons
“The 24-inch FHD LED TN OEM monitor features a superb panel for gaming purposes which stems from the 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync support. However, it’s enclosed in a very basic housing which may not appeal to users who prefer a premium design.”
