We know that 2k games are always looking towards their next release. One of the biggest question marks, however, is currently over Borderlands 3. It has amazingly been nearly 6 years since Borderlands 2 and 3 since the ‘presequel’. Despite both of those games being excellently received, news has been very thin on the ground in regards to Borderlands 3.
In a report via PCGames, however, 2k Games might have just given the biggest hint when we can expect the next game in the series.
Well, in fairness, within the report, Take-Two, the game’s developer have not gone so far as to name any names: “Take-Two continues to expect to deliver both record Net Bookings and record net cash provided by operating activities, in excess of $2.5 billion and $700 million, respectively, during fiscal year 2019, led by the launches of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and a highly anticipated new title from one of 2K’s biggest franchises.”
Yeah, it’s not exactly subtle and given that we already know Borderlands 3 is in development, it seems pretty clear we should accept this as a loose confirmation. Borderlands 3 will be released before March 2019.
Given that the release is set to coincide and be calculated in their financial year, this seems pretty nailed on.
I mean, there are of course other games that 2K publish. I do, however, doubt they’re talking about the next basketball title here.
Joking aside with the whole basketball game comment, there are of course many other games that 2k could be referring to here. The fact that it is clearly defined as “highly anticipated” does, however, narrow it down quite significantly.
We’re not necessarily saying that it definitely is Borderlands 3, but we would be very surprised if it wasn’t.
What do you think? Is this basically a release date for Borderlands 3? Are you a fan of the series? Looking forward to the next game? – Let us know in the comments!
