Synthetic Benchmarks
3DMark Firestrike
With an Intel i7 processor and Nvidia 1060, we expected this system to do reasonably well and it doesn’t disappoint. While the results are certainly not the highest we’ve seen, they are more than consistent for this combination of processor and GPU. It even comes a little close to the ZOTAC which houses a Nvidia 1070.
In terms of combination testing, no problems here!
Unigine Superposition 1080p Extreme
Unigine is a test that focuses on graphics card performance. Given that this is a Nvidia 1060, it’s not hard to see which over systems in our testing also had this GPU. In regards to the MSI variant, this performs close to the top of the pile. This may be, in a small part, due to the excellent cooling system this GPU has.
You’re not going to see top levels of performance from a Nvidia 1060, but then again you shouldn’t expect that either. What you get here is a solid, consistent and slightly better than expected result.
PCMark 10
PCMark 10 is a firm test of a systems processing power. Given that the MSI Infinite A 8th has an 8th-generation i7 processor, this was always going to be a strong performer.
As can be seen in the results, this is the 2nd highest score we’ve seen to date. While it doesn’t even come close to toppling the mighty Witchdocter, in terms of processing power, the 8th-generation Intel again proves itself to give massive delivery.
WPrime
The MSI Infinite A 8th backs up the excellent results shown in the PCMark testing with some equally strong WPrime results. The timing speeds recorded are excellent. If you’re looking for a hard worker, this system is clearly it! A top 3 scoring is certainly nothing to be sniffed at!
Cinebench R15
The Cinebench test, which tests multi and single core performance again showed some excellent figures again. While it is ever so slightly edged out of the top 3 in terms of overall performance, the single core speed is the best we’ve recorded to date.
Handbrake MP4 to MKV Conversion 4K
The chances are that if you’re buying a gaming PC, graphics conversion speeds are not going to be particularly high on your list of priorities. Despite this, the MSI infinite gives another solid performance. While 34 FPS isn’t lightning fast, it’s still a very respectable frame rate conversion rate. As such, for those who like their streaming or posting video content, this should prove to give excellent speedy results.
