Final Thoughts

Pricing

The MSI Infinite A 8th retails for a price in the region of £1400. In terms of gaming systems and what you get for it, this is about the right price we would expect. We would, however, highlight the little added touches that come with this system build. Namely the fantastic utilisation of MSI RGB products to provide one of the best light shows out there.

Yes, RGB isn’t everything, but if we put the components out of the equasion, this system has the looks to make it stand out from the crowd.

Overview

Taking this system as a whole in terms of design and performance, it’s hard to find anything to criticise without sounding quibbling.

Is this system perfect? no. The single bland RAM stick is as disappointing as the 8GB of memory. It would have been so much nicer to see 16GB at least if they were stuck on this RAM type. I daresay as well that the performance figures, particularly for gaming, might have been a little better too.

In addition, a slightly beefier GPU would have pushed this system into the extreme levels of high-end. That being said though, remember that the more they add, the higher the price would have been.

When considering the design styling in combination with some more than impressive performance results, this system is great!

Where to put it?

Given the styling choice, this might look a little out of place as an office PC. If you were looking to score some points in the gaming community though, I haven’t seen many system designs which have had this much care and attention. It looks fantastic. Truth be, if you own this, people are going to ask you a lot of questions about it.

Easy to use!

The fact that this was ready to run out of the packaging is a major plus. In terms of installation, the only decision you have to make is if you want the glass side panel or not. I literally just had to plug this into the power, turn it on and it was ready to game. For a gaming desktop system, what more can you ask?

Should I Buy It?

It’s a no-brainer that an 8th-generation Intel processor and Nvidia 1060 is going to give you a more than solid gaming performance. Our test results alone show that. When you consider that though that this system doesn’t only have some good performance figures, it also looks absolutely stunning, it’s a solid recommendation for us.

In addition to all this though don’t forget that this system is fully upgradable. There is nothing stopping you at some stage in the future putting in more RAM or indeed going for a more powerful GPU.

If you just want something out of the box that looks great and games fantastically though, the MSI Infinite A 8th is a winner!

Pros

  • Strong gaming performance.
  • Fantastic looks and presentation.
  • Excellent CPU and GPU combination.
  • Upgradable to extend its future lifespan.
  • A care to attention in both the design and component choices.
  • Ready to run out of the box!

Cons

  • 8GB of very bland RAM detracts massively from the system, performance and looks.

Neutral

  • No wireless adaptor. Not a major point, but it’s nice when you have it.
  • A stronger GPU would see massively better performance results.
  • 120GB Main SSD doesn’t give you much room for games with the O/S and all other applications installed.
