UK Mobile Data Signal Hotspots Uncovered in New Map

Phone retailer, mobiles.co.uk has released a new crowdsourced map that reveals the true strength of mobile data coverage across the UK.

The map uses a handy colour code to show areas of strong and weak signal, offering the ability to separate coverage by 2G, 3G and 4G data reception. It also displays average speeds for a particular area and reports that the entire UK average for 4G connectivity stands at 14.7Mbps.

It also allows us to see where 4G has really caught on (in cities) and exactly where it hasn’t (mostly in the rural areas of Wales, Scotland and the North of England). We also get a chance to compare different networks, with the map suggesting that EE is the best for 4G, covering 75% of the UK.
