Developed by a modder for new and experienced modders, the game features full mod tools as well as seven different game modes, 10 maps, and 40 different weapons, all focused on infantry based combat across a number of different locations. From the fast moving Assault class, to the heavily armed and dangerous Heavy Gunner class, Rekoil was made for those who desire balanced FPS gameplay with a large variety of different play styles.
Rekoil supports customizable servers and was developed with eSports in mind. The game features all of the functionality required to properly facilitate competitive events. Full spectator mode will be present for casting and commentary needs, direct Twitch TV integration for streamers to broadcast from within the game, LAN support for tournaments, and for event organizers and video directors, replay functionality will be in place to allow players to review a match after the fact.
Aspiring level designers and game developers can enter the Rekoil map making competition here with full contest details available here. Entrants must submit their maps by the deadline of midnight PST on March 7, 2014. Each level submission will be reviewed and evaluated by the community, 505 Games and Plastic Piranha.
We’re really looking forward to checking this game out, fast paced action and a more than affordable price tag make it a tempting option to kill some time over the weekend, but it remains to be seen how well the game will be accepted my the eSports community and just how big the game will become.
Thank you Rekoil for providing us with this information.
