8-Bit Bayonetta Game Released on Steam with Surprise Reveal

First seen on April Fool’s day 2010, an 8-bit, side-scrolling version of Bayonetta was unveiled in video form. Despite the fans wanting to actually play the game, unfortunately it was not actually real, that is until 2015 when it was turned into an easter egg for developer Platinum Game’s 404 Error Page on their site which can be controlled via the keyboard directly from a web-browser. After seven years, the game can now finally be played on a desktop and be downloaded via Steam completely for free.

Since the game is on Steam, it has unlockable achievements and it seems there is a purpose after all to the release of this game other than just a bit of fun on April Fool’s day. Achievements unlock combine into a puzzle that teases the launch of a possible Bayonetta game for the PC. A link revealed leads to Sega’s website with a countdown timer set for April 11. Those who want to know whether this means a sequel or a new collection of the Bayonetta games for the PC would just have to wait until that timer ends.
