Intel is ready with their latest platform and we have a whole list of reviews ready for you. Not only do we have two of the new Coffee Lake processors tested, we also have 7 motherboard reviews.
Intel’s Core i7-8700K processor comes with six cores and twelve threads. The base clock is 3.7GHz and it has a turbo up to 4.7GHz. Within the processor is a 12MB cache, supports up to 64GB DDR4 2666 memory, and it has 16 PCIe lames. Naturally, it is Optane ready and comes with a 95W TDP.
Intel’s Core i5-8400 is a non-hyperthreaded CPU with six cores and six threads. The base clock is a modest 2.8GHz, but the boost clock goes up to 4.7GHz. It comes with 9MB cache, has the same memory support as its bigger brother, but a smaller TDP of 65W. It also features the same 16 PCIe lanes.
Equipped with the upgraded 1151 socket for 8th Gen Intel Coffee Lake, the K6 is packed full of high-end features. It supports quad-SLI and 3-way CrossFireX for extreme gaming builds. You’ll also find very high-quality sound hardware, negating the need for external sound processing. There’s a huge amount of storage options, including M.2 and Optane support. If that wasn’t enough, there’s dual LAN too, which certainly couldn’t hurt if you’re a serious online gamer.
The ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I Gaming might be a small motherboard, but it comes with a full set of features. Support for the new generation processors, onboard M.2 heat sink, Aura Sync RGB, dual M.2 slots, and a SupremeFX audio solution.
The ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming comes with the same basic features as the smaller brother, but it isn’t limited to that. As a full-size ATX motherboard, there’s room for more PCIe slots, more SATA ports, and more onboard headers.
TUF is ASUS’ tough series and the Z370-Pro Gaming lives up to that in design and features. DTS Custom Audio, a nice assortment of voltage protection systems, and high-end components such as TUF Chokes, and MOSFETs. Add to that Xpert 4 fan control and in M.2 storage, and you’ve got a pretty complete package.
This one is from Aorus, the flagship gaming moniker from Gigabyte. The Ultra Gaming is, as you might have guessed, a gaming-focused motherboard. It features support for multiple graphics cards, high-performance memory, overclocking of the CPU, and blazing fast storage solutions. So let’s dive in and take a closer look at what it has to offer.
