Antec PowerUp 3000 Mobile USB Battery
Out of all the devices I took a look at this week, this is no doubt the most simplistic, yet in many ways it’s also the most important of the bunch. We’re all well aware of the growing demand that is power, especially when it comes to our portable devices. Sure your iPod might be able to keep its battery for a few days use, but when it comes to things like Smartphones, Tablets, Headsets and other USB rechargeables things can get a little more complex.
Over the years smartphones have gotten massively more powerful in terms of performance, so too have the batteries that power them yet I know many people out there who still struggle to get a full days use out of their phone, even less if you’re someone who loves to enjoy graphically intensive mobile games, loud music from their devices speakers, watching a movie, driving some powerful headphones all these things eat your battery like Pacman munches pellets.

All the other Antec products I’ve reviewed here, the Gain, Iso and the SP1 are all USB rechargeable and that makes this, the PowerUp 3000 their perfect partner. It doesn’t take any longer to charge than your average smartphone but it is capable of holding that charge for a few months with ease. When your USB device is low on power, plug its USB cable into this and you’re back in business, its as simple as that.
The Antec PowerUp 3000 features a simple Micro USB input for charging the battery and a standard USB output for charging your other devices, a high quality USB to MicroUSB cable serves both purposes or you can just connect your devices USB cable to the battery directly. Four LED lights display feedback on the remaining charge and it couldn’t be much easier to use than that.
I left the PowerUp 3000 on charge over night after taking it out of the box, once my HTC One X+ was down to 2% battery remaining I hooked up the PowerUp 3000, my phone had fully charged after about 90mins and there was still around 25% power remaining in the Antec device. More than enough to double the life span of my battery when I’m on the move and still small and light enough that I can keep it in my pocket, bag, glove box or if I’m completely honest, on my couch so I can keep checking Facebook without having to go stand by a plug socket.
