A New Denuvo Version Is Already Protecting Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

There’s a new version of Denuvo out there.

We recently told you that Denuvo 4.8 has been compromised. However, it looks like the anti-tamper tech is already a few steps ahead, as a new Denuvo version is available. Capcom was among the first to adopt the new version by introducing it in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. According to a Reddit user named Voski_RVT, this new Denuvo is quite a bit different when compared to version 4.8. That’s why he decided to name it Denuvo 5.0 instead of 4.9. Surely, it makes sense for the company to create a new version of its main product. With so many upcoming games relying on it for protection, updates are necessary in order to secure sales. Still, some studies have shown that piracy has little to no impact on game sales, but that’s a story for another time.

Upcoming games that will use the new version.

What we know so far is that Far Cry 5, Final Fantasy XII, and Dragon Ball FighterZ will rely on the new DRM. With the reveal of this new version, it’s probably safe to assume that these titles will be safe for a while. If the trend goes on, pirates will end up fighting an uphill battle. Eventually, even the most stubborn DRM is usually bypassed somehow. However, if the process ends up taking too long, sometimes people just lose interest.
