Lite-On has recently introduced the iHBS112-04, a new value internal Blu-ray disc writer drive.
Built in the standard 5.25″ form factor, it supports SATA interface, but also includes Lite-On’s ABS (auto-balanced spindle) feature, reducing noise and vibrations caused by the drive when revved up and spinning at high speeds.
Writing speed of the drive are at 12X for BD-R single-layer, 8X for BD-R double-layer, 2X for BD-RE single and double-layer and 16X for DVD±R. As for writing cache, it stands at 8 MB.
Now available in Japan for the price of ¥6,980 (approx. $90), expect to see the drive under various other labels due to Lite-On being a major upstream ODM of optical disc drives.
