Assassin’s Creed Animated Series Confirmed Coming to NetFlix

News of Ubisoft‘s Assassin’s Creed being developed for television surfaced three months ago. Although CEO Yves Guillemot remained cryptic in terms of plans for the series. The company is in talks with streaming giant NetFlix to distribute the TV series, although there is no information beyond that. It seems that despite the critical and financial failure of the Assassin’s Creed movie effort, they remain hopeful.
Fans are wondering whether this means a live action TV show or is it going to be in animation. The latest Castlevania series from NetFlix for example is entirely animation. This allows the producers to get creative with the storylines and adult themes, without the same constraints, budgetary or otherwise.
Live Action or Animated?
Adi Shankar, who is also producing the Castlevania TV series confirmed via his Facebook account that he will be taking on the Assassin’s Creed project as well. He also confirms via his post that it will not be live action, but will be an “anime series”.
There are no further announcements yet or details as to what the series will cover. The video game franchise draws upon several titles in its stable across several hundred years so they have plenty of source material. The latest Assassin’s Creed for example, goes as far back as Ptolemaic Egypt.
