Ace of Spades PC Review

It’s hard to justify this game as good or bad, it has elements that many will call great than many more will call awful. I myself feel somewhat torn on so many aspects of this game, but there is one underlying fact that I just cannot ignore, it’s FUN! and surely that’s enough? Lets break it down and see what the pros and cons are for Ace of Spades.
I’m not keen on Minecraft as a whole, its a great concept but its just not for me and I generally find it awkward to navigate hills that are made of blocks, its not a smooth transition to the top to say the least. There is also little excuse for having a draw distance in this game, the maps are big, but they’re not that big and I’m pretty sure my system can manage it. The next issue is the biggest one of me, this game suffers from catastrophic lag and plenty of it, something that seemed to be a widespread issue while talking to people in multiplayer games who were also suffering the same issues. The game is constantly being updated though so hopefully they’ll address this issue very soon, but for now it near-ruined my experience of the game.
The best thing about this game though is that it allows you to be creative, there is something amusing about tunnelling your way to an enemy base, or simply building your own little bunker in the corner of the map, perfect for those who love the use of a sniper rifle. I can’t really gripe too much with this games shortfalls though, it really is just a lot of fun to play and when the lag wants to play nice it can be a frantic and well paced experience that is unlike any other FPS on the market today. Given that it only costs £6.99 it really is a bargain too (although its currently 50% off on a Steam sale!).
I’m not going to give this game an award today, it’s a brilliant little game for only a small financial investment but I think there are still a few areas that could be improved upon.
