In addition to the the Triton 700 gaming laptop, Acer has also announced the Helios 300 at their Next@Acer event in New York City. The Helios 300 is part of Acer’s Predator gaming notebook line, equipped with an overclockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or GTX 1050Ti GPU and a 7th generation Intel Core i7 (7700HQ) or Core i5 (7300HQ) processor. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 (upgradeable to 32GB), a SATA SSD for OS with a 1TB HDD for storage. Unlike other notebooks, the Predator Helios 300’s components are easily upgradeable with compartment doors accessible underneath if the user wants to add more RAM or swap out the drives without disassembling the entire laptop.
For external storage, there is a USB 3.1 Type-C port, a USB 3.0 port with power-off USB charging, and two USB 2.0 ports. For network connectivity, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port is available and there is a built-in Wireless 2×2 802.11ac adapter inside. There is an HDMI 2.0 port available for external display connection as well. In terms of display, the Helios 300 is available with either a 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel.
Both 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch Predator Helios 300 will be available for purchase in August for €1,199. For North American users, it will be available earlier around July although the 17.3-inch version will cost $100 more at 1,399 compared to the 15.6-inch version which will be available for $1,299.
