Acer have announced that their new RevoCenter RC110/RC111 is ready to hit the market with the Windows Home Server 2011 operating system and support for network client systems running Windows 7, Vista and XP.
The device is aimed at home users for centralised storage of digital media and boasts being a compact and powerful option, with dimensions of 200 (W) by 180 (L) by 212 (H) mm (7.87 by 7.09 by 8.35 inches) and weighing 5.1 kg (11.24 lbs) with one hard drive installed, also containing a 220W (100-240v ac) power supply.
Processors are Intel Atom D425 for the RC110 and Intel Atom D525 for the RC111 both the Intel ICH9R chipset, the chassis can take up to 4 hot swap hard drives at a max of 8TB, memory at a max of 4GB DDR2 1333 MHz unbuffered SDRAM (over 2 slots).
There is also a one touch button USB copy feature, there is one front USB 2.0 port with the rear supporting two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports as well as Gigabit Ethernet and eSata ports.
As yet there is no firm release date or pricing details, but what looks to be an ideal compact home data storage solution depending of course on what the price point will be.
