Acer Announces 24″ Predator Gaming Monitor With WQHD 144Hz and OC

AS proper gaming rig also needs a proper gaming monitor to support the high frame rates offered by games and hardware. Acer’s newest monitor could be a great choice, but it isn’t a cheap one. The new Acer XB241YU is the newest monitor in the Predator gaming range and it is a 24-inch WQHD monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and up to 165Hz with overclocking.

The overall preferred gaming resolution for enthusiasts seem to be 2560 x 1440 and that’s what you get from this 24-inch zero frame monitor. The almost non-existing bezels allow you to use these monitors in awesome multi-screen setups. Besides just being an awesome monitor with the above specifications, it also comes with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology and a quick 1ms response time.

“We believe this powerful WQHD monitor in a ZeroFrame design and NVIDIA G-Sync offers a compelling feature set for gamers, including those competing in eSports,” said Ronald Lau, Acer America director – stationary computing. “The ZeroFrame design makes it a perfect choice for those wanting to create an immersive multi-monitor setup, while the fast refresh rate and support for changing settings in-game, gives gamers a competitive edge.”

The Acer Predator XB241YU delivers a great colour accuracy with support for 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and it also comes with NVIDIA ULMB technology that reduces motion blur. Connection-wise, you get HDMI, DisplayPort v1.2, and a USB 3.0 hub (1 up/4 down) and it also features two 2W stereo speakers for built-in audio functionality.

The GameView technology allows you to quickly toggle between three customizable display profiles to get just the right setting for your tasks and without the need to navigate OSD menus. Special settings include dark boost (black level adjustment) to see every threat, aim-point assistance for getting a jump on opponents and perfecting the shot and selecting the on-screen refresh rate. It is also outfitted with Acer Eye Protect which includes flicker-less, blue-light filter, ComfyView and low dimming technologies to help safeguard the eyes from blue light emissions. This reduces eye strain and fatigue for a more comfortable gaming experience.

The adjustable stand provides height adjustment up to 5.9 inches and a quick-release design easily disconnects the display from the stand for VESA wall mounting. It also provides handy cable management to keep the desk free from clutter.

The Predator XB241YU is available now and comes with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $499 USD.
