AMD showcased several partners using the latest Ryzen processors in their pre-built gaming systems and one of these is finally available for purchase. The Acer GX-281 is a mid-range gaming desktop that is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 CPU. This is a quad-core processor running at 3.2GHz and bundled with 8GB of DDR4. The Acer GX-281 is a pre-built tower that includes everything else except the monitor. Users also get Windows 10 Home Edition pre-installed for the operating system.
A mid-tower design is a good base for a pre-built system since users can upgrade the hardware later on. It comes with a 500W power supply which should provide some allowance for upgrading the default GeForce GTX 1050 video card. It also comes with a 1TB hard drive for storage and a DVD-Writer with an SD card reader. Additional external storage options come in the form of 4x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C ports. There is also at least one more SATA port available on the motherboard for adding an SSD. The GX-281 also comes with a USB mouse and keyboard when purchased.
There is also a slightly better “UR16” variant that adds a 256GB SSD and upgrades the graphics card to a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB for $849. USD.
