April 27 is a busy day for Acer with several announcements made at their Next@Acer event in New York City, including two new additions to their lightweight laptop Swift series: Swift 1 and Swift 3. Both laptops will come with Windows 10 and are ideal for school work or for users with an on-the-go lifestyle.
The Swift 1 is an entry level notebook with a 13.3-inch IPS panel sporting a 1920 x 1080 resolution and has a 10-hour battery life. It can be configured to run an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor with 4GB of memory and has the option of running either 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB SSD or eMMC storage. It also features an ultra-fast 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac for Wireless network connectivity. It only weighs 2.87 pounds (1.3 kg) and measures 0.7 inches (14.95mm) thick, with an all-metal chassis that is available in either Pure Silver, Luxury Gold or Sakura pink color. It will be available in the European region in June starting at €399 and it will be priced in North America at $329.
The Swift 3 on the other hand is more powerful and slightly larger, having the option of either a 14 inch or a 15.6 inch full HD IPS anti-glare display. It can be configured to have a more powerful 7th generation Intel Core processor with optional NVIDIA GeForce graphics while having a similar 10-hour battery life rating as the Swift 1. It also has an ultrafast 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless capability but adds the option of having up to 1TB HDDs inside. Despite packing some decently powerful hardware, the Swift 3 only weighs 3.9 pounds (1.8kg) and is 0.71 inches (17.95mm) thick. Users can also choose to use a 512GB SSD instead as well. It is available for $599 in the US, while it will cost €649 in the EU when it comes out in June.
