The Acer Aspire S3 is one of the newest Ultrabooks on the market, only officially announced today. It has been previously spotted in shops around Europe ahead of it going to the shelves but only now has Acer lifted the shroud and given us all the details about it. The Ultrabook is Intel’s answer to the Tablet revolution and it is based of 32nm Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Sandy Bridge i3, i5 and i7 processors.
The Aspire S3 has a glossy finish 13.3″ screen which supports a max resolution of 1366 by 768 which is greater than 720p. The Ultrabook is just 13mm thick and weighs 1.3kg thanks to a lightweight magnesium alloy casing. The specifications will vary by model but lets take a quick overview of the possible range of components:
- Screen: 13.3″ 1366×768 LED.
- Processor: Sandy Bridge Mobile i3, i5 or i7 processors.
- RAM: DDR3 SODIMM up to 4GB.
- Storage: Mechanical Hard Drive or Solid State Drive.
- Graphics: Integrated only, Intel HD 2000 or 3000 series.
In addition to the main hardware the Acer Aspire also has a range of connectivity options. Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, USB and HDMI make up all your connectors on the Ultrabook other than the obvious power connector. Acer is claiming it takes just 1.5 seconds to get the Ultrabook out of sleep mode and only 2.5 seconds to connect to the internet. Battery life is up to 7 hours depending on the processor configuration. Pricing will range from 799 to 1199.
