ACER Predator GM7000 1TB SSD Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Unfortunately, with this drive just launching today, I don’t have retail links ready for the review just yet. However, I’ll aim to update this as soon as I possibly can. However, you can find stock and prices on Amazon in the UK here and in the US here. However, I expect the prices to be competitive with other ultra-fast 1TB SSDs, which is to say it’ll be a bit on the expensive side.

Overview

ACER is one of the biggest names in the PC hardware market, and while I’ll admit, their name often brings images of boring pre-built systems, that’s surely just a fraction of what they really do. However, as soon as you add the word Predator to it, it quickly brings images of some of the coolest gaming hardware on the market today. Just look at some of the more recent reviews we’ve done!

ACER Predator is a premium range of gaming hardware, and while that’s often reflected in the price, they’ve always been competitively priced with their many rivals too. This isn’t the only drive in this class that promises these kinds of speeds, but it’s clearly still one of the better options overall. You get the whole package, which a high-performance drive, a built-in graphite heatsink, and in my case, an larger aluminium heatsink too, ensuring you can get the best performance from the drive, regardless of where you’re installing it.

Of course, much of the performance gains here come from the component choices, and BIWIN and ACER certainly cut no corners in that respect. Leveraging the PCIe Gen 4 standard, and NMVe 1.4 protocol, the drive can get the best out of its hardware. It uses the latest 3D TLC NAND Flash Memory, and a range of technologies like dynamic bad block management, dynamic and static wear-levelling, and low-density parity-check (LDPC) to ensure the life span and performance.

Should I Buy One?

The ACER Predator GM7000 is one of the fastest and most competitive SSDs on the market today. It’s got some strong competition, but clearly, it’ll be able to go head to head with any of them. If you’re tired of long loading screens, slow file transfers, and just generally have a need for speed from your PC, you’ll certainly find it here. Add to that a 5-years warranty with up to 600TBW (whichever comes first), and you’ll find the GM7000 is more than worthy of your next upgrade!
