Ultra-Wide Quad-HD IPS with FreeSync
Acer is preparing a new addition to their XR monitor family. This one is the 34″ XR342CKP and it has a resolution of 3440 x 1440, and 21:9 aspect ratio. This makes this an ultra-wide quad-HD display.
The XR342CKP’s panel is also curved and is IPS. It has a standard refresh rate of 50Hz, but it can overclock up to 100Hz and supports AMD FreeSync technology. Coupled with the 1MS response time, it makes for a decent gaming monitor.
FreeSync adaptive sync technology, unlike NVIDIA’s G-Sync, does not require hardware so it is more widely compatible. Especially with Intel announcing they will be opting for AMD’s solution for their upcoming GPUs.
Horizontal viewing angle is up to 172°, while vertical viewing angle is up to 178°. Users will also be able to tilt it between -5° to 35° as well as adjust the height up to 130mm.
In terms of connectivity, it has 2x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI and four USB 3.0 ports on the built-in hub.
How Much is the Acer XR342CKP Monitor?
This monitor has a recommended retail price of $1399 AUS and is currently only available so far from Acer Australia’s website. Expect US pricing to be around $900~$1000 USD.
Each package comes with one DisplayPort cable, one HDMI cable, one USB 3.0 cable and the power cable. Warranty coverage is up to 3-years (mail-in).
