Activision Denies Modern Warfare 3 Remaster Rumours

Following the relatively recent release of remastered versions of both the original Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2, there have been growing rumours over recent weeks that Activision was imminently set to announce that the third title in the franchise was also shortly set to get a fresh coat of graphical gloss. While this did seem entirely within the realms of possibility, however, following a report via Eurogamer, Activision has felt compelled to issue a statement in which they categorically deny that a ‘Modern Warfare 3 Remastered’ is in the works.

Activision – Modern Warfare 3 Remastered ‘Does Not Exist’

While the recent remasters was generally well-received by both the gaming community and reviewers, one of the biggest omissions (and criticisms) from both titles was the removal of the exceptionally popular multiplayer modes. Although these did only concentrate on the truly excellent single-player campaigns, while the lack of multiplayer was clearly disappointing, there were more than a few hopes that Activision would at least continue to remaster that off-shoot of the franchise to effectively finish the storyline.

While that may, of course, still happen though, Activision has made it 100% clear that there is no work currently being conducted on Modern Warfare 3.

“A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports otherwise are incorrect.” – Activision

So, What ARE They Working On?

While further development is clearly still happening with their battle-royale ‘Warzone’ title, the only other projects currently in development is the upcoming ‘Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard’ set for release later this year and an apparent sequel to the soft-reboot of their latest Modern Warfare title. And yes, the naming of games in this franchise is starting to get more than a little confusing!

If you were, however, hopeful that a Modern Warfare 3 Remastered release might’ve been in the works, it seems that if it is happening, you shouldn’t expect to see it any time soon because, at least at the time of writing, Activision has made it abundantly clear that they have more than enough to keep them busy at the moment!
