ADATA Announces the Ultimate SU630 QLC 3D NAND SSD

QLC 3D NAND is Here

ADATA is announcing the arrival of their new Ultimate SU630 SSD. Although it looks similar to any of their 2.5″ SATA-based solid state drives, the SU630 is different because of what is inside. Instead of utilizing 3D TLC or 3D MLC NAND, it uses the new 3D QLC NAND. Compared to TLC (3-bits per cell) and MLC (2-bits per cell), QLC is able to fit 4-bits per cell. So you will be finding it used on SSDs with higher capacity options without costing as much as same capacity TLC and MLC drives.

How Well Does the ADATA Ultimate SU630 Perform?

In terms of performance, most users will not have to compromise speed as the Ultimate SU630 can reach up to 520MB/s read and 450MB/s write. Which is pretty much inline with the latest generation 3D TLC and 3D MLC drives these days. As for reliability and longevity, ADATA feels confident enough that this has a 1,500,000 hours MTBF with a 2-year warranty.

As usual, ADATA bundles these drives with a free Acronis True image HD migration utility software. Plus, the SSD Toolbox software for monitoring, maintaining and updating the SSD’s firmware.

What Capacity Options are Available with the Ultimate SU630?

For now, users can choose between 240GB, 480GB and 960GB capacities.
