ADATA DashDrive Elite HE720 Review

With the drive out of the box, the first things that become apparent are how light and thin it is. Weighing in at a mere 164g and measuring only 8.9mm thick, it hard to believe that this has a hard drive inside and a 9H stainless steel casing wrapped around it.

Across the mid-rib of the drive the metal has a more polished finish with the ADATA brand and model set into the surface. The 9H stainless stell gives the drive a very high level of protection against scratches which stops the drive from looking like its been through ten rounds in the ring after bit of day to day use and taking it around from place to place.

As mentioned the HE720 is only 8.9mm thick, making it the worlds thinnest portable hard drive. On the top of the drive there is an LED to show power and activity status in a soft blue glow. Inside the enclosure ADATA have fitted a 5400RPM Seagate Momentus Thin 500GB drive.

At the lower end of the drive is a USB3.0 connection, providing both power and data connections to the drive and next to this is the one-touch backup button. The software with which this works comes on the drive already and can be installed once the drive is connected.
