ADATA HD710 Pro Rugged and Portable HDD Review

Final Thoughts and Pricing

Pricing

At the time of review, ADATA’s HD710 Pro with 1TB can be yours for as little as £50.98 and $84.04. The price may variate a little on the colour choice at some retailers.

Final Thoughts

ADATA proves that a mechanical drive can keep your data safe, even in extreme conditions. Whether you drop it, get it wet, or take it into a sandstorm, the HD710 Pro can withstand it. ADATA even went one step further and added a G-Sensor which will halt all traffic in the event of extreme shocks or vibrations which could damage the drive. That’s more than most rugged drives offer and another layer of protection for your data.

The version of the drive which I tested today is the smallest in the series with 1TB capacity. Besides that, you can get 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, and 5TB versions. That’s a lot of choices right there and a capacity to meet every need. There are also choices to be made when it comes to the colour. Whether you pick a yellow, blue, red, or black version is up to you.

The drive comes with a neat cable management groove too. Simply wrap the cable around the drive and you’re sure to have it whenever you need it. A small but very useful feature.

Performance

The performance wasn’t groundbreaking in our tests of the HD710 Pro. While that’s said, it’s right on par with what it should be for a 1TB mechanical drive. It’s nothing special, but it’s not bad either. It just is. Larger versions of the drive should have a better performance, that’s physics and the way HDDs are built.

Pros

  • Great protection against dust, water, and shock
  • Built-in G-Sensor which will stop operation to prevent damage
  • Multiple colour choices
  • Up to 5TB capacity options
  • Cable groove to keep everything together.

Cons

  • Not the fastest, but on par with standard values for a drive like this.

“ADATA’s HD710 Pro offers an impressive protection for a portable HDD. Above IP68 rating, Military-grade drop protection, and G-Shock sensor are all part of the package.”
