ADATA Releases Updated SC660H and SV620H 3D NAND External SSDs

ADATA released an updated version to their external solid state drives in the form of the Premier SC660H and the Premier SV620H external SSDs. The new drives are based on the previous designs, but the new models are part of ADATA’s move into 3D NAND flash which they’re doing with all new SSDs as well as refreshes of existing models.

The new SC660H and SV620H feature 3D TLC NAND instead of traditional 2D NAND which is a change that’s made to provide an increased reliability, durability, and efficiency. The drives connect via USB 3.1 Gen 1 that is capable of up to 5Gbps. With that kind of connection, the two drives are able to deliver up to 440MB/s when reading and up to 430M/s when writing. There also was a slight change in the availably capacity options due to the change in NAND. Where the old versions came as 240GB and 480GB drives, the new ones are 256G and 512G drives.

The SC660H measures just 9.6mm tall. Its slim enclosure uses electroplated and textured titanium, ensuring a high degree of resistance against shocks, scratches, paint chipping, and fingerprints. The SC660H weighs a mere 73g, a fraction of the bulk of an external mechanical hard drive. Also light and slender, the SV620H likewise employs a sandblasted titanium enclosure that makes it shock and scratch resistant. Its flat surfaces are raised 0.75mm, so that even when moved across a desk or other area the risk of unsightly scratches is minimized. The SV620H weighs 76g, and like its SC660H sibling has a cool blue activity LED.

ADATA didn’t disclose any pricing or further information at this time, but I’m sure that this will follow shortly and the that the SC660H and SV620H will appear at your favorite reseller soon. Meanwhile, you can also check up on ADATA’s complete line of portable drives, which is quite extensive.
