ADATA Unveil Their PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD at Computex 2019

ADATA
We’ve seen a few PCIe 4.0 drives here at Computex 2019, but not as many as I might have expected. With that in mind though, I’m happy we spotted another here at the Adata booth. As with all the others we’ve see, it is a prototype and the hardware is still being fine-tuned and this one here is simply a mockup.
What’s different though, is that it says it uses the upcoming Silicon Motion SM2267G controller. Most of the others are using the new Phison controller. This may have something to do with the lower performance, and we expect that will increase closer to the release.
Of course, the performance will change based on capacity too, I wouldn’t expect 5000 MBs Read and 4000 MBs write at 8TB, and the quoted 4000/3000 may be more realistic at that capacity. Plus, it’s one of the few claiming it can get up to 8TB, so that should be interesting. We expect the drive to release some time early in 2020.
