Over Power Protection and Max Wattage
Although this particular XPG CYBERCORE model is officially rated to 1,300 watts of power output, it is never unusual that a PSU is capable of going significantly beyond this point. The official rating is simply the limit at which the manufacturer thinks things, on the whole, remain the most stable before its performance starts to go a little (and then a lot) downhill.
If things are pushed too hard, however, and not that this is ever recommended for sustained periods of time, it’s important to know that protections are in place to ensure that no damage is ever risked not just to your PSU, but to your system components as well. – So, with this in mind, how did the XPG CYBERCORE perform? Well, we can happily confirm that the OPP worked perfectly achieving a score of 1,693.3W before it kicked into place (roughly 30% beyond its officially rated amount of 1,300).
