The new XPG Spectrix D40 RGB DDR4 memory kit is coming soon according to ADATA. The colorful memory module first appeared during Computex 2017. It is essentially an upgrade to the XPG Dazzle, featuring multi-colored LED options. In comparison, this is a far cry from the single-color option of the original limited to either red or yellow. Like any RGB LED peripheral, software integration is essential. That is why ADATA is coming out of the gate with support for ASUS’ Aura Sync software. This allows users to synchronize color and behaviour settings with the rest of the motherboard. That is only one motherboard vendor so far, but they are expecting more support to be added later on.
The XPG Spectrix D40 borrows heavily from the original XPG Dazzle DDR4 design. The top area is angled towards the middle like the XPG Z1 line, but the center is open and has a diffused lighting area. The recent promotional photos shown by ADATA show a red heatspreader color. Although at Computex, ADATA has a black heatspreader option on display. This makes more sense since black is more color neutral than red, which could clash with the color scheme.
ADATA did not provide details yet as to which speeds and capacities they will be offering. However, they confirm that these will be better performers than the recently announced Gammix DDR4 line.
