Aerocool Cylon RGB Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Aerocool Cylon is available now for around £50 from Amazon; that is a fair price for the product. However, a quick bit of Google-Fu can finds it for as low as £35 from CCL, which is a freaking steal!

Overview

The latest chassis from Aerocool gets a lot right, but it makes a few sacrifices to get there. It’s far from perfect, but expecting perfection from a budget chassis would be futile. It’s obvious the window panel has been retrofitted onto an internal chassis that had a slide-on metal panel. The screw holes in the window are dangerously close to the edges, which may crack if not cared for. The rear I/O covers are mostly those nasty snap-off ones that you can’t put back when needed. There’s no intake fan in the front of the chassis either. Are any of these things a deal breaker? Not on a chassis which I can get for £35 they’re not, no.

What it Got Right

The aesthetics are bang on here. From an outward perspective, seeing the complete build, it looks like a much more expensive product. The RGB lighting has a big hand in that, not only is it unique, it’s stylish and modern too. Not requiring desktop software to change it is another huge bonus too.

The overall build quality is competitive in this price range, minor issues aside. There’s a good amount of cable routing space, and the inclusion of a PSU shroud really helps tidy up the overall build with ease. For first time builders, you’re unlikely to hit any roadblocks here.

A bit tacked on, but the acrylic window looks great too. It’s got that glass style, without the added weight and cost. In fact, the whole chassis is surprisingly light but more durable than one would expect too.

Should I Buy One

The final look of our build and the general aesthetics of the chassis are what makes this chassis a winner. It has a few minor issues that I’d rather it didn’t. However, when all is said and done, the finished product turns out just right. For those building on a crazy tight budget, you’ll be damn hard pushed to find something that looks this good for less.
